Testing Options

Many post-secondary institutions have introduced Test Optional procedures in their admissions process. Please consult with your selected schools when planning your SAT/ACT college admission exam schedule. Also, remember to use your personal email account NOT your school account when registering for exams.

SAT

The SAT is a multiple-choice test created and administered through the College Board.

The SAT measures achievement related to college readiness.

Provides one common data point used to compare applicants.

SAT Sections: Math; Evidence-Based Reading and Writing.

SAT is offered 7 times a year.

ACT

The ACT is a college entrance exam used as a comparative point for applicants.

The ACT measures skills in five core areas measuring achievement related to college and career readiness.

The ACT is composed of four multiple-choice sections - English, Math, Reading, and Science along with an optional Writing section.

ACT is offered 7 times a year.

AP

Advanced Placement 

Exams are designed to measure how well content and skills of a specific AP course are mastered.

Most AP courses have an end-of-year paper-and-pencil exam while some may require a portfolio of work, submitted final project, or taped performance.

AP Exams are offered in May.

ASVAB

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is a multiple-aptitude battery.

The ASVAB measures strengths, weaknesses, and potential for career success.

The ASVAB is also the Armed Forces Qualification Test measuring qualifications for military programs.

The ASVAB is offered in the Fall but can also be arranged through an enlistment office.
